Los Angeles trio Robotic Asphyxiation has made an immediate impression on us, and we have no doubt they will take up permanent residency on your latest playlist. They take the best of several different styles and genres, blend them together effortlessly and the end result is true ear candy. They recently released a full length album that we will be reviewing soon on our site, so stay tuned.
Rod Melancon recently released his sophomore album 'Parish Lines' on March 4th, and he is slated to appear at South By Southwest in Austin this coming week.......luckily for Austin. This dynamic, rocking storyteller is going to be on the lips of everyone very shortly, especially after SXSW. If there is such a thing as understated greatness, we are quite sure Rod possesses it.
I was lucky enough to speak with Rod this week about the making and release of this album. Such a nice guy, and a great interviewee. Take a listen.
Someone once said "Rock and Roll Never Dies." I could take that a step further. I prefer to think of rock music as getting better with age. The more time passes since the genre first took hold, the more we appreciate the truly great rock artists of our time. Artists like Jeffrey "Skunk" Baxter (Doobie Brothers/Steely Dan), Barry Goudreau (formerly of Boston), Fran Sheehan (formerly of Boston), Leroy "LSR" Romans (The Wailers/3rd World), Robert "Mousey" Thomson (James Brown), and lead vocalist Danny Beissel (Fosterchild). What began as a way to give back to charities eight years ago has become something more, and Danny was good enough to fill us in on how it all began as well as where it's headed.
Soulful blues rocker Rod Melancon is due to release his new album 'Parish Lines' on March 4, 2014. Take one listen to his single 'Marella' and you will be instantly hooked!
The Feeling is a pop/rock band from the UK with exceptional storytelling ability and more heart than one band should be allowed to have. I spoke with lead vocalist Dan Gillespie-Sells about The Feeling's new record 'Boy Cried Wolf' recently and if passion for a project is equal to the finished product.....then you can be sure that 'Boy Cried Wolf' is exceptional.
One of our favorite bands to pop up on our radar recently is Charming Liars. This UK to So. California transplant is responsible for restoring our faith in truly talented, driven rock artists. I had a great conversation with lead vocalist, Charlie Cosser recently about their experience of relocating to the states, their recent release and more. This is a band to keep close tabs on in the coming year....trust me!
Hopeful....passionate....inspirational. These are all very descriptive of the music that FLINTface's Joe Scorsone brings to the table. Some of the best music is inspired by pain and overcoming difficulties in life. But there is also a lot to be said about an artist who focuses on the positive aspects of life after riding out the storm. I had a great chat with Joe about his music not long ago and all that is coming up for FLINTface. Be sure to check him out online as well.
Our old friends EVE TO ADAM are on a rampage. They are tearing up the charts with their latest single 'Immortal' and their latest album 'Locked and Loaded' is showcasing the raw talent we've known this band to have since we first meet them in 2007. It was a pleasure to get to speak with them again and see their incredible live show at the world famous Whiskey A-Go-Go in Los Angeles recently. Listen to our interview here and be sure to follow everything that is ETA online.
Our friends from Fresh Out Of Fiction are at it again.....and I'm so glad! They are due to release a new EP shortly, and we have a sneak peak track just for our listeners. Enjoy it, download it, share it.....courtesy of Rock On Request and Fresh Out Of Fiction. We give you 'Smart Money.'
Vancouver based duo, The Royal Oui is set to release a two-song EP on October 8th, with an eagerly anticipated full length record in February 2014. After hearing one of the EP tracks, 'When You Lose Your Mind' I knew it was something I needed to share with our listeners. This is a stream only track, but definitely worth a listen. We will be offering a download from this fantastic duo in the near future. Be sure to check them out below:
