Hopeful....passionate....inspirational. These are all very descriptive of the music that FLINTface's Joe Scorsone brings to the table. Some of the best music is inspired by pain and overcoming difficulties in life. But there is also a lot to be said about an artist who focuses on the positive aspects of life after riding out the storm. I had a great chat with Joe about his music not long ago and all that is coming up for FLINTface. Be sure to check him out online as well.
Our old friends EVE TO ADAM are on a rampage. They are tearing up the charts with their latest single 'Immortal' and their latest album 'Locked and Loaded' is showcasing the raw talent we've known this band to have since we first meet them in 2007. It was a pleasure to get to speak with them again and see their incredible live show at the world famous Whiskey A-Go-Go in Los Angeles recently. Listen to our interview here and be sure to follow everything that is ETA online.
Our friends from Fresh Out Of Fiction are at it again.....and I'm so glad! They are due to release a new EP shortly, and we have a sneak peak track just for our listeners. Enjoy it, download it, share it.....courtesy of Rock On Request and Fresh Out Of Fiction. We give you 'Smart Money.'
Vancouver based duo, The Royal Oui is set to release a two-song EP on October 8th, with an eagerly anticipated full length record in February 2014. After hearing one of the EP tracks, 'When You Lose Your Mind' I knew it was something I needed to share with our listeners. This is a stream only track, but definitely worth a listen. We will be offering a download from this fantastic duo in the near future. Be sure to check them out below:
Fozzy has gained some much deserved respect in the metal world, and for good reason. They have been proving for years that they are so much more than their larger than life frontman, pro wrestling great Chris Jericho. They have true talent, and phenomenal stage presence.....not to mention a huge fan following.
I had the pleasure of chatting with Chris Jericho about Fozzy's upcoming tour and upcoming new music.
Tonight's featured track is from a four-piece band out of Southern California by the name of Tonight Shall Rise. In our opinion, they have all the right ingredients that make them an unforgettable up and coming band. Their energy, angst, haunting female lead vocalist and gut wrenching growls in all the right places put them at the top of our list for bands you can bet you'll be wanting to watch. Check them out on Facebook:
It was great news to hear that the Counting Crows were hitting the road this summer with The Wallflowers, and I had the opportunity to chat with Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz about this summer tour that I'm sure their fans were eagerly waiting for.
To find out if this great summer tour is rolling through your neighborhood, check out the dates here:
I love Fridays. It starts off the weekend, and I get to pick one of the great tracks sent to me during the week to put up for all of our amazing listeners across the globe.
I love it when I get a track late on Friday afternoon that I know right away must go up as the featured track....and this one did just that!
Eric & Magill is Ryan Weber and Eric Osterman, originally from Milwaukee. This collaborative effort was achieved long distance with tremendous help from the internet, and a wide variety friends to produce a lush, beautiful sound.
Not long ago I received an e-mail that definitely caught my attention. It was an announcement that The Counting Crows and The Wallflowers are embarking on an exciting 21-city tour. As if that wasn't enough, after a recent conversation with lead singer Adam Duritz I found out that anyone buying a ticket to this tour will be able to download a special 15-track live album entitled 'Echoes From The Outlaw Roadshow' with some of the best live performances I've heard in a very long time. We are happy to be able to stream one of those tracks for you this Friday night. Be sure to grab a ticket for this great summer tour to get the whole album.
Check dates and venues here: http://www.countingcrows.com/summertour
I generally prefer to write my own impression of an artist and the track they share with our listeners. For tonight's installment, however, I don't think I could have put it much better than his bio reads....so here goes:
"Joe Scorsone is the soulful and sensitive artist known as FLINTface who is about to capitalize on the transformative power of rock and roll to make sure his message is heard as he weaves hopeful tales of the complex paths, trials and ordeals of life, and how to summon the inner strength to triumph. Working with producer Ross Hogarth (Ziggy Marley, Van Halen, Sick Puppies, Coal Chamber) FLINTface’s new album will be out later this year."
FLINTface is definitely one of those artists to watch, so please go show some love on his social networks as well.
Farley is an indie/alt rock four piece band out of Northeast PA, and we are very pleased to be able to share this track off their latest album 'Squaring Circles.' The rich textures in lead vocalist Tim Farley's voice has drawn us in for years, and it is in rare form on this track. This is a romantic track to start off your weekend, so use it wisely.
Dorydrive is an alternative/pop rock band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin that popped up on our radar recently. They have been garnering a lot of attention of late from countless labels and have had the pleasure of supporting such artists as Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden, Sevendust, Pop Evil, Fuel, Candlebox and the list goes on. We were immediately impressed with their single 'Paramour' and we are happy to pass this on to our listeners. This is a stream only, but well worth a listen. Be sure to check out Dorydrive online as well.
The second gem we have for you on this beautiful Sunday is Jodee Seiders. I fell in love with Jodee's voice the moment I heard it. She has such a beautiful tone that just lingers and pulls you in. She has recently done some very nice covers, and this particular cover of Everything But The Girl's 'Missing' struck a particular chord with us. We're sure our listeners will feel the same way.
It is a privilege to introduce to our listeners this amazing Swedish artist, Moto Boy. The only way I can describe his voice is hauntingly surreal. His lyrics are intense and romantic. But perhaps his bio describes his music best:
"Moto Boy makes lush, romantic pop songs. With emotive pop and impressive operatic vocals, the result is hair-raising music that evokes feelings parallel to that of a Jeff Buckley song or a David Lynch movie."
We are pleased to be able to share 'The Heart Is A Rebel' with our listeners the world over. Be sure to check him out at the links below as well.
While living on the East coast I had the pleasure of coming across some great local bands. One of my favorite bands, by far, was Jonas Sees In Color from Greensboro, NC. They not only put on one of the most fun and energetic live shows I've been to, but they do so with so much style and originality it's infectious. Though we've known and appreciated them for a few years now, this year they are really starting to catch fire, having gone across the country to L.A. to participate in the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands and landing a spot on this year's Vans Warped Tour. We're not surprised one bit.
JSIC has recently released their sophomore album 'Give Me Mine' and we are happy to be able to stream the lead single for you here. Be sure to check them out on Facebook as well and pick up 'Give Me Mine' to hear more of their greatness.
If you checked out our interview with Anoop, you heard us talk about the new direction his music is taking. 'Love War' is a great track for fans of electro/dance music. Anoop was kind enough to let us share this with our listeners for FREE DOWNLOAD!
Anoop Desai blew the judges and America away with his rendition of Boyz II Men's 'Thank You' on American Idol, season eight. His rich voice kept him in the competition and in the minds of his fans for a good run. However, there is much more to this artist than what he did on Idol, and I had the chance to talk to him about all of it. Anoop is such a nice guy and great artist.....this chat was truly a pleasure. Check it out, and be sure to give him some love on his social networks.
Notably one of the hardest working rock bands in Vegas, The Garage Boys infuse a variety of styles in both their endless covers and their original music. The end result is always fun rock & roll entertainment. I had the pleasure of speaking with the band recently about their career and upcoming album recently, and let me just say they are as fun to talk to as they are to watch. Check them out online at:
We've had the pleasure of presenting a track from our friends Empire Escorts once before, and were so glad we did. Our listeners around the world were just as impressed as we were, and we're not surprised. Empire Escorts gives us a great blend of rock styles with great songwriting, blues influence and wraps it up in a very nice package for our listening pleasure. Be sure to check them out on the web at the following locations:
Once again, Southern California gives us another great rock band to share with the world. I am a sucker for great guitar lead-ins, and this track certainly gets the blood pumping right out of the gate. The Rare comes to us from the High Desert in sunny California, and they pack just the right punch where we're concerned. Equal parts old school hard rock and modern rock, with a little taste of punk angst thrown in for good measure, The Rare is one of those bands who can appeal to a wide audience. Be sure to check them out on Facebook for updates on upcoming releases.
Every so often we get a sneak peak at a band that is on the cusp of being on the lips of the free world. It's just that kinda time again, and the band in question is Monks of Mellonwah. These native Australians have more than made a name for themselves in their native territory, and they are now poised to do the same in the US. What I like about showcasing bands here on the podcast is that people from all over the world can be introduced to great bands like this long before they are being played on repeat on radio stations.
The latest release from Monks of Mellonwah is an EP that comes in the form of one composition delivered in four parts. This struck a chord with us for the dark melodic tones and lyrical content, but also for the glorious vocals it presents. We are pleased to stream for our listeners 'Sky and The Dark Night, Part 2. Be sure to share this, and check out the EP in its entirety on the band's Bandcamp page.
Reinvent California Rock: That is the mission of Norris. From straight-forward dance beats, to memorable lyrics, recognizable melodies and biting guitar riffs, Norris' first foray into the music world, "Big Shot," is a blinking glimpse into a bigger musical reality. In 2013, California Rock gets a new face. Norris. Based in the Mojave Desert of Southern California, Norris features Andy LaLonde on vocals and bass, Dylan Leonardi on guitar and vocals, Martial Haprov on vocals and guitar, and Steve Thomas on drums and vocals.
Tragic End is a talented up and coming heavy rock band that comes to us from the high desert area in Southern California. They recently formed in 2012 with a goal of creating heavy music with substance, and we think they have achieved that goal nicely on this track. We're happy to share this track with our listeners. Be sure to check out Tragic End on Facebook, and spread the word about them.
Bobby Alt is an American electronic music producer, drummer extraordinaire and talented singer-songwriter that I had the pleasure of meeting some years back. I have seen him perform and interviewed him several times since then and his talent and passion for what he does never ceases to amaze me. He has recently released a new single, 'SHIPWRECKED' on iTunes and we recommend our listeners take a minute to check out this stream. Bobby has taken his expertise in the various realms of music he has performed over the years and melded it into his most recent release.
"Over the last year Bobby Alt has fused the individual musical identities of drumming/production/and modern day djing to form his hybrid drum skynching show and EP Back Towards Earth."
Listen to SHIPWRECKED here, and follow the link below to buy it on iTunes.
L.A.'s own Hotel Diablo has been making a lot of noise with their release in September 2012 of 'The Return to Psycho, California', but believe me when I say it's the GOOD kind of noise. They definitely don't pull any punches on their lead single, 'Psycho California' and we are happy to be able to share it with our listeners on this cold Friday night. It will definitely turn up the heat.
I was lucky enough to stumble upon this incredibly talented rock/blues guitarist from North Carolina by the name of Jake Haldenwang a few years ago, and I can't think of any artist I would want to promote more. Keeping in mind that Jake is a mere 17 years of age, the level of his talent is just incredible. He is currently trying to land a spot on the Eric Clapton Crossroads Festival in April, so check out this track he was kind enough to share with our listeners. His guitar work is nothing short of perfection (did I mention this track was recorded when he was only 15?!) and click on the link below to add your support for Jake on his Crossroads Festival contest page. Give his other tracks a play on that site as well as it will help his cause. You won't be disappointed, trust me.
Give him a like on Facebook as well.
By far one of the most anticipated shows that FOX has offered up to kick off 2013 is 'The Following', starring none other than Kevin Bacon. This thriller featuring a serial killer with cult-like followers and former FBI agent Ryan Hardy played by critically acclaimed actor Kevin Bacon has hit written all over it. We are lucky enough to take part in a conference call interview with Mr. Bacon through out friends at FOX and it was great to hear his personal insights regarding his character and the show itself.
Making connections with talented artists is one of the many perks of promoting music today. One of those talented artists that we have crossed paths with in the past is now a member of an up and coming band from Chicago by the name of She's Alive. We are pleased to be able to share their track, 'Another Try,' with our many listeners. Here is a little bit about She's Alive:
"Representing Chicago's DIY music scene, She's Alive give a powerpop
punch to the windy city" says Neck Deep Media's Andrew Wynykoski of
the band's debut EP, 'Left To Live For'. All veterans of the midwest
scene, the five-piece assembled in 2012 and have wasted no time,
quickly hammering out a tight collection of songs and securing studio
time at Rob Freeman's renowned Pilot Studio in New Jersey.
Since the release of the EP in the summer of 2012 She's Alive have
supported touring artists including Paradise Fears, Forever the
Sickest Kids, Rocky Loves Emily and more followed by a string of solo
tour-dates in the midwest and east coast.
"We play music that is real to us and I think people respond to that
sincerity." says lead vocalist Alex Rogers. "Our songs come from the
heart and we want our fans to feel like they are a part of our world
when they listen to us. That connection is what keeps us going."
If you are a fan of The Voice, then you are no doubt familiar with Bryan Keith. The soulful, beautifully melodic tones in his voice made him one of our favorites on the show this year.....by far. Bryan has done an amazing cover of 'O Holy Night' that we very much wanted to share with our listeners. We are happy to be able to stream it here, and if you love it as much as we do you can grab it on iTunes now.
Critically acclaimed, multi-plantinum Los Angeles rock band Buckcherry is due to release their new album 'Confessions' on February 19th. We are pleased to be able to share the lead single, 'Gluttony' with our listeners. It is every bit of the raw, high-energy, pure rock vibe that Buckcherry delivers so well. Enjoy!
The Rosy Shades is a four piece rock band from Florida that came across my desk recently. I was hooked as soon as this track began playing, and they were kind enough to let me share this with our listeners all over the world. Be sure to check them out at the links below.
We consider ourselves very lucky these days to have great contacts all over the world who frequently introduce us to dynamic artists. One such contact (you know who you are)recently introduced me to Sheppard, a six-piece pop band out of Brisbane, Australia. Made up of family members George, Amy and Emma Sheppard along with Jay, Michael and Jared, Sheppard has built up a huge and well-deserved fan base. They recently released their first EP and were kind enough to let us stream their lead single 'Let Me Down Easy' for our listeners. Be sure to check them out at the links below, and pick up their EP.
One of our favorite Philly bands is set to release a new EP on October 16th, and we are lucky enough to be able to share a little piece of it with you. Glocca Morra is a band that packs an impact, even if you aren't truly sure what that impact is straight out of the gate. They are due to release 'An Obscure Moon Lighting an Obscure World' on 10/16/12 on Kind Of Like Records, and we have the lead single here for your listening pleasure. This is a stream-only track, so be sure to share the link around for others to enjoy. Be sure to grab the EP when it drops in October.
Stargroves is an eclectic mix of NYC based musicians, founded by lead singer and songwriter Teddy Watson. Influenced by bands such as Freelance Whales, Stars, and Sigur Rós, the members of Stargroves play a variety of intriguing instruments, accounting for the originality of their sound.
Teddy spent three months in Iceland writing and developing the music that will make up their first album release. The first single being released is a special collaboration with Academy Award nominated acress Abigail Breslin. We had no idea what a beautiful voice Abigail has, and the combination of her vocals with Teddy's on this track is truly special. We know you will enjoy it.
Be sure to check out Stargroves at http://www.stargroves.com
With the release of their highly anticipated album 'Between The Devil and Two Black Hearts', 8MM has been kind enough to share their single 'Around The Sun' with our loyal listeners. This talented pair have garnered much attention and praise from the media and celebs alike.....well-deserved praise, I might add. Be sure to snag this record when it hits on 9/15/12.
I was introduced to the music of another great UK band this week by the name of Kyoto Drive. They are a four piece pop rock band from the West Midlands, UK formed in 2008. Having toured all over the UK & Mainland Europe the past 18 months, the band have just released they're brand new mini album 'The Approach' (Produced by Matt O'Grady - YM@6/Deaf Havana) through I Am Mighty Records which has recieved great response!! They were kind enough to share this track with our listeners. Be sure to pass it along and check out Kyoto Drive on Facebook.
Hot on the heels of their recent release of 'Montage', I had the pleasure of speaking with City Rain's Ben Runyan. Philadelphia has been known to produce some exceptional talent, and City Rain is no exception. The Montage EP is a very personal journey for the band, which is something Ben is more than willing to discuss during our interview.
This New Hampshire/Massachusetts band is one you will want to keep on your radar. Foreign Tongues incorporates alternative, grunge and straight up rock to conjure up a sound that has been sorely missed on the airwaves of late. They recently released their self-titled EP on cassette in May of this year, and in the fall it is being pressed on 7" vinyl. If you enjoy this track as much as we did, you will definitely want to head over and get their EP which has four other equally great tracks to offer up to your ears.
It was a pleasure to speak with Jared Watson once again from The Dirty Heads. With the recent release of their sophomore album 'Cabin By The Sea' and a supporting tour in progress, there was plenty to talk about. The new album is one we highly recommend, so if you haven't yet be sure to look for it on iTunes or check out the band's online store.
BB King, Buddy Guy, Elmore James, Eric Clapton, Billy Gibbons.....without a doubt some of the best blues guitarists to grace stages around the globe. Thanks to the power of social networking, we were lucky enough to be introduced to an exceptionally talented 14-year-old blue guitarist by the name of Aaron Keylock. We have no doubt that Aaron's name will be added to that list of legends in the future. Since the age of 12 Aaron has been making a name for himself in and around London, playing to critical acclaim alongside some of the greats. We hope you enjoy the track Aaron has been kind enough to share with our listeners. Be sure to check him out online at:
Philadelphia's City Rain is a project filled with soul searching, and soul finding. With the impending release of City Rain's EP 'Montage' on August 28th, we are pleased to be able to stream the title track for our listeners. Be sure to check City Rain out on Facebook and look for their EP release shortly.
We could easily take a moment and list some wonderful comparison artists for you to sum up what we hear from Tailor, an amazing artist who has just come to our attention from South Africa. If you are a fan of haunting, melodic female vocalists, you will LOVE Tailor. Let us know who she reminds you of, or how this track makes you feel. We'd love to be able to communicate that back to her people.
We would like to introduce our listeners to Matt Toka. Music has often been described by artists as their "therapy" or their escape. In that regard, Matt certainly can be an inspiration to kids everywhere who were raised in abusive households. I had the pleasure of speaking with Matt recently while he was out and about on this year's Vans Warped tour.
We had a lively chat with Skyla and Kyle from Blackburner recently. This dynamic duo has been labeled "dub-step", but there is much more to their music in our opinion. We'll let them fill our listeners in on what inspires what they do. We had a little technical difficulty in the beginning of the interview, but stay tuned. It irons itself out, and Skyla and Kyle were a lot of fun to chat with.
Ready for a blast from the past? We had the pleasure of interviewing Wes Scantlin from Puddle of Mudd a few years back in person, and it was a blast. This was originally a video interview, but I thought I'd pull the audio off and put it up for our worldwide listeners to enjoy.
While fans are eagerly waiting the upcoming release of 'Omens's this fall, 3OH!3 is showing them some love by streaming their new single 'You're Gonna Love This' from the upcoming record. We do love this track, and we're sure our listeners will agree.
Los Angeles, CA is home to so many musicians and bands battling to get noticed within the sea of the industry. That's why we like it here......so much music to choose from right in our own backyard. So what does a band need to do to get that attention? Just do what they do, and do it well. No need to "break new ground" or any of that necessarily, just bring it and leave it all on the stage or recording studio floor. Decoded is doing that, and they were nice enough to let us share one of their tracks with our listeners. Be sure to check them out and like them on Facebook as well.
One the heels of their recent EP release of 'Addict' on 6/5, One Pretty Minute has been kind enough to share a track of this great EP with our listeners. This is a really great EP, so be sure to pick it up on iTunes to hear more of it.
Nonpoint offers fans an exclusive first listen to an advanced mix of 'I Said It' from their forthcoming album. Download it, share it, bang your head to it.
This 22-year-old singer/songwriter from Berlin has been making the rounds in the London Music scene, and was recently in the states at the MuseEXPO, Los Angeles. She was discovered by songwriter, musician and record producer Guy Chambers (Kylie Minoque, Robbie Williams and Tina Turner, making her stage debut in London at Chambers' 'Orgasmatron.' Schmidt has a very haunting voice that is just pure and beautiful. We hope you enjoy 'Shadowman', and feel free to share it with others.
L.A. based band Kitten will release a new EP on August 28th, but they have been kind enough to share some new music early with the release of 'Cut It Out' and 'Sugar', their A-side/B-side singles. We have 'Cut It Out' here for our listeners enjoyment.
Since we have always believed strongly in promoting local bands, we are happy to share this track from Fresh Out of Fiction with our listeners.
Fresh out of Fiction is a Rock n' Roll band founded in 2010, based in Los Angeles California. A diverse group of musicians with different styles and influences to contribute make a unique, eclectic and affable sound. Influenced and Inspired by many styles and genre's and yet innately, inexplicably, drawn to rock n roll. The line up consists of Ivan Hernandez keeping time on drums, Balmore Lemus shredding on guitar, Courtney Kakebeen on bass holding down the low end and fronted by guitarist and songwriter Jazz Meulstee.
I had the pleasure of hand selecting a track of theirs for the podcast, and this one just jumped out at me. Hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did. Pass it around, tell your friends, and so on.
Hailing from Johannesburg, South Africa, The Graeme Watkins Project blends many of our favorite rock genres to create a sound that is more than pleasing to our ears. Take a listen to their single 'Music Affair' off their recent EP of the same name. We expect to hear much more from GWP in the near future, so remember that we introduced them to you first!
With the single “Uh Oh” already climbing the charts and a video that is playing all over the country, Florida-based pop rockers Junior Doctor announce the national release of CLUMSY WORDS AND BAD PICKUP LINES on April 10, 2012.
Junior Doctor was kind enough to let us share their single 'Mirror Mirror' with our worldwide audience, so take a listen......download.....and share away!
Styx is one of the busiest classic rock bands I know, and they are about to embark on yet another killer tour. The upcoming Midwest tour with REO Speedwagon and none other than Ted Nugent is just one of the things I talked about recently with Styx bassist, Ricky Phillips.
Our friends from London are back and offering up a new track for your listening pleasure. Binary caught our attention a few months ago with their haunting single, 'Prisoner'.....and now they have done it once again with 'Modern Man.' Spread this around people.
*this track is for stream only and not available for download
2011 has been an incredible year for Farryl Purkiss with another one of his songs being placed on Popular TV Series “Private practice” and the release of the 2CD Special Edition of “Fruitbats & Crows”, one of his most successful albums to date. In the past few years, Purkiss has toured Australia three times, Europe, USA and of course, South Africa. He’s had radio success in all of the above territories including Japan and a #1 in France with “La-Di-Da”. His songs have been used in campaigns by Nissan (Greece), Audi (UK), MTN (South Africa) as well as placement in the international film “Adopted” (featuring Pauly Shore) and “Ways To live Forever” (feat Ben Chaplin).
There is much more that I could share about Farryl and his esteemed career, but suffice to say that his music speaks for itself. We share music here that we are touched by in some way, and that we know our listeners will appreciate. Be sure to check out more of Farryl's music at the links provided below.
Season two of The Voice has already offered up some pleasant surprises for me. One of them was hearing a very familiar voice on the season's opening episode and realizing it was Tony Lucca. While television viewers have come to know him as the Voice contestant who has a Mickey Mouse Club connection to Christina Aguilera, Tony has had a long and distinguished musical career as a solo artist, self-releasing records and performing with very well known artists for many years. I already had Tony's latest covers album stashed away on my computer when I heard him on The Voice, and I knew then I had to speak with him. Check out Tony's official site below:
New York City’s psychedelic rock beast Spirit Animal has announced plans for their next full-length album, Spiritia Animalia, which will see a release later this year. Today, the band is sharing the first single, “Crocodile Skins,” and you can check out a teaser video for their upcoming album below.
Tattered is a hard rock group, with influences ranging from Soundgarden to Avenged Sevenfold, from death metal to radio rock, but that's not to say that their style is easily classified into ...any of those groups, or easily compared to any of their influences. The music is serious, and to the point; songs of self-reflection and expression, but full of hooks and memorable melodies. This group of talented musicians from Canada immediately made an impression on me, and they incorporate the influences of many of my favorites artists into their music, so I had to share it with the masses. Enjoy, and check them out on ReverbNation.
The band's tagline reads, 'Two guys, a few beers in a garage, as it should be." Sometimes, that's all it takes to make great music. I was immediately impressed by Nick & The Narcissists, and I have no doubt you will want to check out more of their music. You can find their ReverbNation page below. Spread the word!
Equal parts rock, pop and funk, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania's SezHU combines varied personalities and talents to produce a unique sound that stays with you. Whatever musical tastes one might have, SezHu has it covered! Watch for the debut album “Square One” coming soon on Toil Records!
Check out SezHU on ReverbNation:
It would be all too easy to call this an interview, as we usually do. When I sat down for a chat with Monte Pittman, however, this turned into much more than that. I thought about breaking our hour conversation up into installments, but I didn't want it to lose the great flow we had going.
Monte is an accomplished, award-winning guitarist who not only can boast that he taught both Madonna and Guy Ritchie how to play guitar, but he recently released a new album, won Best Solo Artist at the 2012 Artists in Music Awards and performed at the Superbowl. Sit back, relax and listen to Monte and I talk about all that is coming up for him, and all he has accomplished.
San Diego, CA has given us another great post-hardcore band to rave about. Secrets has been gaining a big following recently, and rightly so. This five-piece outfit recently signed with VelocityRise Records and released their debut album 'The Ascent' this past fall to rave reviews. Fans of Pierce The Veil and A Day To Remember will love what Secrets has to offer. I spoke with frontman Xander Bourgeois recently about all things coming up for the band in 2012.
I had the pleasure of speaking with lead vocalist Tad Gonzales of Electric Sister. For all of the hard and alternative rock fans out there, Electric Sister is a band that should most definitely be on your radar. With the recent release of their album 'The Lost Art of Rock and Roll' this past October, Electric Sister has been garnering great reviews that are well-deserved. Tad was nice enough to talk with me about the record and what the band has planned for 2012.
Keifer Sutherland of FOX's new upcoming show 'TOUCH' sat down this morning for a conference call interview with the media. It was a definite pleasure to listen to an actor of Mr. Sutherland's caliber talk so passionately about his new project. With hundreds of members of the press hoping to get a chance to talk to Keifer, he was gracious enough to spend 25 minutes answering all that he could about this great new show from FOX.
Our featured track this Saturday night comes from a great rock band out of New Jersey by the name of Empire Escorts. They recently released a five song EP in December, and they were kind enough to share their track 'Bury The Man' with our listeners. We're really diggin' these guys so far, so let us know what you think.
Jack Jeffrey is an artist whose music is a tribute to great artists such as Pink Floyd, The Beatles, John Lennon, and more. The single 'A Plea to a Dreamer' comes from his recent album 'The Constant That Remains' which is available on CD Baby at the link below. Enjoy!
When it comes to laying down a truly classic hard rock sound, Fosterchild absolutely kills it. There is nothing overproduced here, and you definitely won't here the same old thing when you listen to their music. This is four guys with pure talent playing traditional, balls out rock. Our friends from Philly are sharing their single 'Anywhere (Sundown)' with our listeners today, and after hearing it I have no doubt you are going to want much more Fosterchild in your collection. You can find their entire catalog on iTunes, and be sure to check out their website as well.
Oakland, CA-based rock band Electric Sister released its debut full-length record, THE LOST ART OF ROCK & ROLL, on October 25, 2011. The 9-track album includes the title single, “The Lost Art of Rock & Roll” which can be heard on terrestrial, satellite and Internet radio shows across the country. We are lucky enough to be able to offer our listeners a free download of their single 'Down For The Last Time'. Check it out, and spread the word!
I am always reminded why I love what I do. All it takes is one e-mail introducing a band to me, a band playing great original music like Binary. I listened to about 30 seconds of this track and was completely hooked. We are offering Binary's single 'Prisoner' to our listeners tonight to get your Friday started off right. You will be hearing a lot about this band, trust me.
*this track is for stream only at the moment, but we are hoping to have some more from Binary in the future for download. Stay tuned.
On the heels of their US tour opening for the legendary Bryan Ferry, The Phenomenal Handclap Band have released “Following” – the first single off their forthcoming new album, Form & Control, out January 31st via Tummy Touch Records. We are happy to be able to share this single as a free download for our listeners.
As a special treat for our podcast listeners, I want to share a new track with you from The Original 7ven. For those of you who don't know that name, you might recognize them by their first title of Morris Day and The Time. The original seven members of MD and The Time are back with a brand new album, and it is GOOD! This is my personal favorite track from the album, and I wanted to share it with everyone.
*This is for listening only- no download available.
Saves The Day released their new record, 'Daybreak' today and in celebration we are offering their acoustic version of 'Deranged and Desperate' to our listeners.
I had the pleasure of participating in a FOX television conference call interview with the extraordinary Zooey Deschanel. Zooey spoke with myself and several other members of the media about her upcoming FOX series, 'The New Girl.' Our question was near the end of the interview, but the entire conference call was great and Zooey was very nice to chat with. Be sure to tune into FOX on 9/20 for the season premiere of 'The New Girl.'
* After Zooey answers each question, there may be brief silence before the next question is asked. The entire interview is approximately 28 minutes.
To celebrate the release of Chuck Ragan's new album 'Covering Ground', we are happy to offer this great track to our listeners. We would love to hear your thoughts.
Devin Brochu is a very talented young actor that we expect to hear about over and over again in the years to come. We were introduced to him recently when viewing HESHER, an independent film starring Brochu, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rainn Wilson and Piper Laurie. This film has elements of dark comedy, drama, heavy metal, anarchy, will make you laugh and bring you to tears. We highly recommend it. Be sure to visit the Rock On Request website to read our review. In the meantime, enjoy our interview with Devin, a young man who gave a breakout performance in a soon-to-be cult classic.
HESHER is due out on DVD and Blu-Ray on 9/13/2011.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Brandon Smith recently, lead vocalist from The Anix. The Anix is a 3-Piece band from Southern California known for their sonically massive choruses, and constrained electronic verses. Inspired mainly by film rather than music, the band tends to steer away from mainstream influences, instead choosing darker films as the core element to the bands overall appearance and sound.
UK duo Autokratz is set to release their new album, 'Self Help For Beginners,' on September 27th. Known for their electropop/techno sensibilities, Autokratz is poised to take over in their genres with this latest release. They have been kind enough to provide this free download of their single, 'Opposite Of Love' for our listeners.
Foreigner is set to release a new three disc set on 9/13/11. In honor of this upcoming release they are offering this newly remastered mp3 of their hit Juke Box Hero to our listeners. Enjoy.
The Anix has gained a large and loyal fan-following overseas, but they have just come onto our radar here in the U.S. If you like bands such as The Cure, Muse, 30 Seconds To Mars and the like, you will definitely want to download 'Glass', a single from The Anix's upcoming album 'Sleepwalkers.'
Critically acclaimed veteran ska/punk band Less Than Jake surprised their fans recently with the release of a 5-track EP entitled 'Greetings From...'. They were kind enough to offer up this free MP3 download of 'Goodbye Mr. Personality' to our listeners. We are big fans of LTJ at Rock On Request, and we think you will be too (if you aren't already).
Oh No Fiasco is an edgy, dark yet fun alternative rock band out of Tennessee that caught our attention recently. I had a great chat with bassist Thomas Boyd recently about their busy summer touring schedule and upcoming record. We had a bit of technical difficult in the first two minutes of the interview, so the audio picks up with the interview already in progress.
The dynamic duo that makes up Uh Huh Her is comprised of Camila Grey and Leisha Hailey. They create music that separates them from the all-too standard pop princesses of this world. With a new record soon to break, I had the pleasure of speaking with Camila recently about it, and their recent tour.
